One of the principal Shakti Peethas, ninety minutes from Varanasi on the Mirzapur road. The full trikon parikrama links three temples on three hills and takes most of a day; the main temple alone takes two hours.

What a brochure would not tell you
At 70 km each way this is poor value on an outstation per-kilometre rate — you drive 140 km and are billed for 250. Ask for a 12-hour local package instead; it is usually several hundred rupees cheaper for exactly the same day.
When to come
October to March. Navratri, twice a year, fills the entire town and the approach roads — extraordinary to witness and very difficult to move through.
