Two days is enough for Varanasi's core if the hours are spent properly, and not enough if they are not. This itinerary front-loads the temple queue on the first afternoon so the second morning stays free for the river.

The plan, hour by hour
Day 1
Arrival, temple, aarti
Night in Varanasi
- By 12:00Arrive and check in. Airport to most hotels is 45 minutes.
- 14:30Drive to Godowlia. The vehicle stops here — Vishwanath is a 10-minute walk through the gali, for everybody.
- 15:00Kashi Vishwanath darshan. Allow 1 hour on a slot, 3 or more without one.
- 17:00Kaal Bhairav, 5 minutes from the vehicle.
- 18:15Dashashwamedh for the Ganga aarti. Arrive 45 minutes early or you will be behind three rows of shoulders.
Day 2
River at dawn, Sarnath after
- 05:30Sunrise boat from Dashashwamedh. The best 90 minutes of the trip.
- 08:00Back to the hotel for breakfast and checkout.
- 10:30Drive to Sarnath, 12 km.
- 11:00Dhamek Stupa, the Mulagandha Kuti Vihara and the museum. Museum closes Fridays.
- 14:00Drop at the airport or station.

Who this is not for
Anyone who wants to see Vishwanath without queueing. On a weekend or festival day the general queue runs three to six hours — book a Sugam Darshan slot on the temple trust portal yourself, and tell us the time so we can plan around it.
