Ayodhya is the most-booked outstation trip from Varanasi and the one most often ruined by a late start. At 220 km on NH-31 and NH-330 it is four to five hours each way, which means a 06:00 departure leaves a usable afternoon and a 09:00 departure does not.

A same-day return from Varanasi is 440 km of driving and a long, tiring day by any standard. It is commonly sold and we will run it, but a night in Ayodhya turns an endurance test into a trip — and costs about the same in vehicle hours.
When to come
October to March. Ram Navami in March or April and Deepotsav around Diwali are extraordinary and extremely crowded — book two months ahead or avoid those weeks entirely.
