Gaya is the principal site for pind daan, and unlike most destinations the schedule is not yours to set. The ritual windows at the Falgu ghats are early morning and fixed, which means the drive, the hotel and everything else is arranged backwards from them.

What a brochure would not tell you
The pandits at the ghats operate independently and their dakshina is negotiated, not fixed. We arrange the pandit and the timing; what you offer is between you and him. Anyone quoting a single all-in price that silently includes it is guessing on your behalf.
When to come
Pitru Paksha, the fortnight in September or October, is the traditional period and the town is at its fullest — book months ahead. Outside it, October to March is comfortable and far quieter.
