What a brochure would not tell you
The museum closes on Fridays, and it holds the single most important object at Sarnath. An itinerary that puts Sarnath on a Friday without saying so has cost you the lion capital — we shuffle the day instead.
When to come
October to March, and mornings year-round. Buddha Purnima in May draws large gatherings and is worth seeing if you can tolerate the heat.
